Although he conspicuously leaves off Ted Kennedy from criticism.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of Kennedy, the hagiography is getting a bit much.  Check out Donald Boudreaux <a href=\"http:\/\/cafehayek.com\/2009\/08\/truly-productive-people.html\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/cafehayek.com\/2009\/08\/sen-compassion.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cafehayek.com\/2009\/08\/sen-compassion-ii.html\">here<\/a>.  For my part, I can&#8217;t get over his attempt to work with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/2009\/08\/27\/ted-kennedy-soviet-union-ronald-reagan-opinions-columnists-peter-robinson.html\">Soviets<\/a> to undermine the President, an act that comes dangerously close to treason in my book.<\/li>\n<li>A wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/opinion\/commentary\/la-oe-allen30-2009aug30,0,2592815.story?track=rss\">response<\/a> to the people telling us that it&#8217;s bad when people can afford food, clothing and shelter.  Don&#8217;t waste your liberal guilt on me.<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Sullivan <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/the_daily_dish\/2009\/08\/the-latest-euphemism-from-the-torture-party.html\">smashes<\/a> the torture defenders.  I&#8217;ve disagreed with a lot lately, but this one is a return to form.  More <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cato-at-liberty.org\/2009\/09\/01\/turning-our-back-on-torture\/\">here<\/a>, including a deconstruction of the notion that waterboarding isn&#8217;t torture.<\/li>\n<li>One of the issues I&#8217;ve moved leftward on is the death penalty.  I used to support it, now I oppose it.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/reporting\/2009\/09\/07\/090907fa_fact_grann?currentPage=1\">Stories like this<\/a> are why.  What happened in this trial is not unusual at all.<\/li>\n<li>E-fucking-<a href=\"http:\/\/adweek.blogs.com\/adfreak\/2009\/09\/911-was-nothing-according-to-new-wwf-ad.html\">gad<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s no surprise to me that we are at a <a href=\"http:\/\/peacecenter.berkeley.edu\/greatergood\/2009april\/Pinker054.php\">low point<\/a> in violent conflict.  The idyllic picture of primitive societies is fictional and causes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coyoteblog.com\/coyote_blog\/2009\/08\/what-progressives-are-really-after-part-2.html\">much stupidity<\/a> from Right and Left.<\/li>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Oldie from Greenwald about political dynasties.
