Mike Blowers calls his shot &#8212; before the game.  Blowers has been one of my favorite players since I traded for him in a computer simulation only to watch him have a better season than he ever had in real life.<\/li>\n<li>What is this?  Three non-political things in a row?  Read <a href=\"http:\/\/jcs.biologists.org\/cgi\/content\/full\/121\/11\/1771\">this<\/a> about the importance of feeling stupid.  I&#8217;ve observed that the principal difference between people who drop out of science and people who stay is that the stayers don&#8217;t take it personally when they feel stupid.  (This is not to be confused with leaving and staying in <i>academia<\/i>, where the stayers just <i>are<\/i> stupid.  Oh.  Wait.)<\/li>\n<li>Is the Keynsian multiplier <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704471504574440723298786310.html\">1<\/a>?  It&#8217;s just one paper, but the idea that massive spending (or, to be honest, massive tax cuts) stimulate the economy seems on shakier ground than supporters want to admit.<\/li>\n<li>OK, back to politics.  In response to Barack Obama, the Republican Party has clearly decided to <a href=\"http:\/\/littlegreenfootballs.com\/article\/34801_Michele_Bachmanns_Sex_Clinics#rss\">go insane<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I find the videos of kids singing Obama&#8217;s praises a bit creepifying &#8212; not because it&#8217;s Obama but because I find the entire Cult of the Presidency thing creepifying.  But the Right Wing&#8217;s hysteria has a very short memory.  Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fxdt_f0hwUg&#038;feature=player_embedded\">this video<\/a> of kids praying for (or to) Bush.  Now <i>that&#8217;s<\/i> disturbing.<\/li>\n<li>Democrats have restored <a href=\"http:\/\/townhall.com\/news\/religion\/2009\/09\/30\/senate_committee_votes_to_restore_$50_million_in_funding__for_abstinence_education\">abstinence education funding<\/a>.
