James Fallows has an <a href=\"http:\/\/jamesfallows.theatlantic.com\/archives\/2009\/11\/last_words_on_obama_and_china.php\">interesting<\/a> analysis of Obama&#8217;s trip to China.  Far from being an embarrassment, some genuine progress was made.<\/p>\n<p>The difference is that where Bush went in with useless bluster &#8212; bluster being the only thing that the Right Wing Echosphere cares about &#8212; Obama went in with quiet negotiation.  Foreign policy should be like an iceberg &#8212; 90% of it being invisible to the public.  I have no idea if any of it is going to work in the end (and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/11\/28\/opinion\/28sat1.html?_r=3&#038;adxnnl=1&#038;adxnnlx=1259417271-OMhj5s+aONARqL6hVZ2P5Q\">nothing<\/a>, it seems, can fix Israel).  And I suspect that, as always, I won&#8217;t like some of what Obama does.
